The school of the future: democratic learning centres for a democratic society

On behalf of the non-profit Hertie Foundation, FiBS, under the project management of Dr Ewa Bacia, has analysed the extent to which educational institutions are fulfilling their mandate of democracy education and how much importance is attached to it. The promotion of democratic skills plays an important role in the development of political maturity among citizens and thus also for our democratic society. With the help of qualitative and quantitative surveys of headteachers, it was determined what they need to create appropriate school programmes and thus strengthen our democracy.
