EduSim is our forecasting tool for the educational sector. Starting from a population forecast, it predicts future developments across the educational spectrum, from preschool and schools to vocational training and higher education. It calculates the future number of students in schools and universities and the resulting need for teachers. At the same time, it lets us investigate what effects improved pedagogy and higher quality in educational institutions and processes have on outcomes in learning, work, and life. When it comes to the price tag for funding education, we can thus compute the costs involved in improving educational quality and predict the benefits that accrue to individuals, the economy, and society. We have already used EduSim successfully in several studies.
